PATRIK LINDR
Patrik is the co-founder and CEO of Find a Sail. As an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor, he holds a contagious passion and profound respect for the sea, and for those willing to brave it.
He has taught and coached over 750 sailors through various schools across Europe and North America, runs a sailing holiday company Wander the Waves, and shares his knowledge through his private training program, the Yacht Master Class.
His experience gave him a unique perspective: he understands first-hand the pain points of sailing companies in terms of admin and customer acquisition, and he also understands the current challenge (and frankly often frustration) of sailors trying to find and book sailing courses and experiences through internet search, and sometimes even e-mail, and telephone. He has walked the way – being a student himself over a decade ago, and hearing the stories from students of his own. His vision is to create a seamless experience for both.
In 2024, Patrik was honored to be appointed as an RYA Yachtmaster Cruising Instructor Trainer, a distinction held by about 50 instructors worldwide.
Patrik’s journey began in landlocked Prague, Czech Republic. After graduating in Air Transportation Engineering, he started working in R&D for Volkswagen. It took him 4 years to realize that sedentary work sedated his heart. He earned his first RYA sailing license. The office was way too small and his heart screamed for the mysterious freedom of the ocean.
He hopped on a bus to Sweden and bought an incredibly well-built Albin Vega 27, which he eventually sailed from the Baltic all around Atlantic Europe to the Mediterranean.
The next winter he headed over to rainy, windy, yet so stunning Scotland. He passed his RYA / MCA Yachtmaster Offshore exams, before gaining a Cruising Instructor license, and started teaching at a local Royal Yachting Association school.
The first year full-time teaching was also a year of full-time learning. He realised that the more you know, the more there is to learn – and it fueled his passion further. The following year, he passed the ultimate Yachtmaster Instructor exams, earning high praise from his evaluator. (He revalidated in 2023).
After teaching in many places around Europe, Canary Islands, and Canada, he still considers Scotland to be the best training ground – and loves to return to teach a couple of courses every year.
In 2018, him and his partner started a sailing adventure holiday company Wander the Waves. With clients (which almost invariably become their friends as well) they explore the most beautiful places of our home planet.
In 2019 he moved to British Columbia, Canada, where he continues to explore, learn, teach, and wonder. He had the privilege to teach the very first RYA course on the West Coast of the American continent. Couple of years later, he started his own sail training project, the Yacht Master Class. He has been teaching in the Pacific Northwest and Europe since.
