A holder of the Yachtmaster™ Offshore certificate is competent to skipper a cruising yacht on any passage during which the yacht is no more than 150 miles from
harbour. A commercially-endorsed Yachtmaster Offshore certificate allows the holder to work in the Industry, anywhere in the world.
Previous experience required:
You will need to have passed the Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster theory and have a VHF license (both available as online courses with our Yachtmaster combined course.
You will also need a first aid certificate.
You must have Sailed 2500 miles in the last 10 years, Half in Tidal waters.
Completed 5, 60 mile passages, 2 as Skipper and 2 at night (Tidal or Non-Tidal).
Spent 50 days on board (not consecutively)

a year agoJust completed combined Competent Crew and Day Skipper course with instructor Carl and loved it. I had zero sailing experience coming into this and was apprehensive. Carl was demanding and patient in equal amounts - the course was intense and tiring but great fun and taught me so much. Spectacular scenery, lovely yacht and an unforgettable time.

a year agoCarl is an extremely skilled, fun and thorough instructor. 'Its not a holiday', but you will come away from the experience having seen some great locations and gained as much knowledge as you can absorb. Liz's cooking is top notch and also caters for those with dietary needs. Can recommend this sailing school with no hesitation.

2 years agoA fantastic week completing my Day Skipper course. Carl provides excellent instruction on a wonderful boat (with your own cabin, no sharing with stranger). Liz provides some delicious food. Great value for money, can't recommend enough!
