If you already have basic knowledge of sailing and wish to move up to the next level, the RYA Day Skipper course will provide you with the experience required to skipper a yacht.
Previous experience required:
You will need to complete the Day Skipper theory course before coming for the practical. (available as an online course with our Day Skipper combined course)
You need to have at least 200 miles experience which equates to 2 weeks on a yacht acting as crew or have completed the RYA Competent Crew course.

a year agoJust completed combined Competent Crew and Day Skipper course with instructor Carl and loved it. I had zero sailing experience coming into this and was apprehensive. Carl was demanding and patient in equal amounts - the course was intense and tiring but great fun and taught me so much. Spectacular scenery, lovely yacht and an unforgettable time.

a year agoCarl is an extremely skilled, fun and thorough instructor. 'Its not a holiday', but you will come away from the experience having seen some great locations and gained as much knowledge as you can absorb. Liz's cooking is top notch and also caters for those with dietary needs. Can recommend this sailing school with no hesitation.

2 years agoA fantastic week completing my Day Skipper course. Carl provides excellent instruction on a wonderful boat (with your own cabin, no sharing with stranger). Liz provides some delicious food. Great value for money, can't recommend enough!

5 months agoJust had an amazing week doing my DS practical! We went out with instructor Mark and it couldn’t have been better, he was thorough with his explanations, we all felt super safe onboard and on top of that he was lovely dude! Same can be said for everyone I met on the team. 10/10 experience. Thank you guys! ❤️
