ASA Learn to sail, North Adriatic islands

I had a great time spending a week in Rijeka and taking ASA 101-104 with Adriatic Sailing Academy. First off, a fun and walkable city, a great place to take a course like this. A special place to learn to sail. Above all, Fabio is an excellent instructor. I’ve spent many years instructing and around teaching in Aviation, and Fabio stands out as one of the best I’ve seen. A calm demeanor, he’s understanding and patient, you will be in great hands at his school. Truly one of the best. Thank you guys for a great course. I found Adriatic Sailing Academy while searching for a sailing school that does ASA courses in Europe. I did the ASA A103 3-day sailing course with Fabio. There was a combination of sailing and classroom time every day and the experience was both very chill and informative. Fabio explained various topics in detail and cared about me understanding the material for real. I also got to practice on the boat quite a lot which was cool. Taking the course on my own in the US would have cost a few thousand dollars so 650 euros for this course was also a very good deal. Overall, the quality of the course was very high and for anyone wanting to do ASA certifications in Europe, this sailing school is a great choice. Fabio is also a cool guy to hang out with on a boat. It was simple and straightforward to arrange everything with Sanja who I did the booking with. Both Sanja and Fabio are very relaxed and friendly people.

We rented Sea Toy, à Bavaria 44 from 2003 for a two week cruise between Riejka and Zadar. We were 4 adults and 4 children on board. Even though the boat is not luxurious it has the necessary comfort for such a cruise, it is well maintained, very stable and a pleasure to sail when there is enough wind. Fabio is a great host, very friendly and very much available to answer any questions and he knows both the region and the boat in the smallest detail and his advices contributed significantly in making our holiday one to remember. Our return on this boat is very likely to happen in the future. Thank you, Fabio, to you and to your team for such a pleasant service !

Much more than a sailing academy. Their are a lot of points I critically evaluate at any company I am dealing with, may it be a hotel, a travel agency, a tool shop whatsoever: 1. Is the product worth its money? 2. Is the staff communicating well? 3. If it’s a complex product like travels which include accomodation, food, other how is the whole thing organized? How the company treats problems, disruption of plans, unforeseen developments, stress? Are they friendly? Does the staff keeps its friendlyness constantly? And so on… The Adriatic Sailing Academy is one of the rare examples where I have no critique at all. I learned a lot about sailing. Fabio is a great guy and teacher sailing since he was a little boy. He knows a hell lot about the sea, boats, dangers etc. The Matijevic family was not just the first tourist agency in Rijeka after the war in Croatia in 1991, they are also active in preserving the cultural heritage of the seafaring at the Croatian costs while owning and expensively preserving an tradional wooden sailing ship. Chapeau! I hope my Skipper’s training at the Adriatic Sailing Academy was just the beginning of a long a fruitfull partner- and friendship!
